Daria Schooler, R.Ph., M.D.
Dr. Schooler's dedication to patient care and passion for professional excellence started early in her life. Following graduation as the Class of 1978's Valedictorian from Whiting High School, in her northwest Indiana home city of Whiting, Dr. Schooler obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1983 and became a practicing licensed pharmacist in Indiana. During her four years of medical school at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Schooler worked as a hospital pharmacist part-time, to help pay tuition and to maintain her pharmacy clinical skills, until graduation with the Doctor of Medicine degree in 1987.
Following successful completion of Neurosurgical Residency Training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1993, Dr. Schooler established her solo practice in Columbus, Indiana, and expanded her practice area to include Indianapolis in 1995, and Seymour in 1997. This move brought much needed neurosurgical care to the patients of south central Indiana that had been lacking in the towns between Indianapolis, Cincinnati, and Louisville. Of historical note, Dr. Schooler was the first known woman to establish a solo neurosurgical practice in the state of Indiana. In 1997, Dr. Schooler was awarded Board Certification by the American Board of Neurological Surgery, and maintains this status with continuing professional education.
The future of our nation and our individual Constitutional liberty is an area of great interest and concern for Dr. Schooler. This concern has led Dr. Schooler to participate with fellow consitutional patriots, Jon Schaffer (Iced Earth and Sons of Liberty recording artist), and Tony Martinez (founder of Sons of LIberty Riders national motorcycle organization) as co-host of the internet talk radio program Spirit of '76 Radio (www.blogtalkradio.com/spiritof76radio) which airs on Tuesday nights 9pm to 11pm eastern. Honest discussions of current events and how they impact the lives of individual citizens occur in a non-partisan forum which welcomes listeners and callers to participate in the conversation.
Throughout her practice, Dr. Schooler has remained an active member of the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA), Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS), American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), North American Spine Society (NASS), Women in Neurosurgery (WINS--also it's past President), and Medical Justice. In addition, Dr. Schooler has continued to serve as the Indiana State Medical Association Voting Delegate to the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), at it's Quinquennial Convention since being appointed to this post in 1995 by the ISMA leadership. With Dr. Schooler as C.E.O. and sole proprietor, Comprehensive Spine and Neurosurgery Services, PC is certified by the Minority and Women Business Enterprise (MWBE) as a Woman Owned Business Enterprise (WBE).
In her personal life, Dr. Schooler is most passionate about her family and close friends. As an avid swimmer, Dr. Schooler exercises daily. When there is time for recreation, Dr. Schooler loves to travel the world, read books, take cooking classes, or enjoy movies, music, and live performances of theater, dance, opera, symphony, as well as rock music, jazz, blues, and bluegrass. When time and weather permit, Dr. Schooler's focus and passion turn to riding her Harley, always wearing a helmet, of course!
